An historic organization, Parent Teacher Association (PTA) was founded more than 100 years ago in 1897 in Washington DC as the National Congress of Mothers by Alice McLellan Birney and Phoebe Apperson Hearst. Nebraska PTA was founded 25 years later in 1922. From its beginning until now, PTA provides support, information and resources to families focused on the health and education of children. Aligning with the vision and determination, of its founders, PTA is an organization that has been woven into the very fabric of American life.
Throughout its history, PTA was created to meet a profound challenge: to better the lives of children. And today, it continues to flourish because PTA has never lost sight of its goal: to change the lives of children across our great nation for the better.
There are various types of PTAs. Together, we continue to work toward PTA's goal of a quality education and nurturing environment for every child.
Membership is open to anyone who believes in the mission and purposes of Parent Teacher Association. Individual members may belong to any number of PTAs and pay dues in each. Every person who joins a local PTA automatically becomes a member of both the state and national PTAs.
Hello Nebraska PTA Members!
My name is Jennifer Doll-Fowler and I am continuing as your Nebraska PTA President. I was so honored when I was elected into this office at the Nebraska Convention on May 30, 2015. The first 2 years were amazing and I plan on being busy to ensure that the State PTA is working efficiently and effectively until the next President takes office.
As an educator in the Omaha Public School district and a parent of students in OPS I am passionate about bringing parents and teachers together to make the best of our children's educational path. I have seen first hand what a positive impact the home-school relationship has on students.
I have several goals that I am working on during my term. My first priority is to develop relationships with as many units as possible! I intend to do that through communication, training, and by attending PTA meetings and events throughout the great State of Nebraska! I am very fortunate to have a group of individuals on the Board of Directors that have already started working to ensure the State PTA is successful. However, I am also excited to bring new people to the Board of Directors who are just as motivated, dedicated, and passionate about making a difference for all children in Nebraska. If you have an interest in joining the Board of Directors, please contact me; we would love to have some new faces and perspectives on our board.
Please feel free to contact me via e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org or call me at 402-739-3339. I would love to hear comments, suggestions, or ideas from each and every unit in Nebraska! I hope to hear from you soon!
Thanks so much
