How do we update our bylaws?
An updated version of unit bylaws for 2025-26 can be found here. This short form lists the items that can be changed/voted on by each local unit and should be uploaded into Givebacks for compliance purposes.
What is the dues increase and when will it begin?
National dues are increasing from $2.25 to $3.25 per member. The increase will take effect beginning July 1, 2025.
What are the options for local PTAs to implement the National PTA dues increase?
Local PTAs must either increase their membership dues to include the new National PTA dues portion or absorb by reducing the local membership portion.
Example: Local PTA membership dues consist of three portions—local membership dues, state membership dues and National PTA dues.

What needs district approval?
From a National PTA perspective, district approval is primarily needed for activities that intersect directly with the school's operations, facilities, students, or where the PTA is making a formal donation to the school. The PTA maintains independence over its internal budgeting and fundraising decisions, but collaborates closely with the school administration to ensure harmonious operation.
Who can sign checks?
At least three elected officers, two of whom must be the president and the treasurer, shall be approved to sign checks and have their signatures on file at the bank. The authorized check signers must not be related by blood or marriage or reside in the same household.
